Since the 1970s when the first Chapman Leonard small camera Dolly was introduced (The original Hustler), it has become the single most used piece of camera support equipment the world over, second only to the Tripod. With the introduction of the what is now the worlds most popular small Dolly ever, the Pee Wee in the 80s, Chapman Dollies have always been a major component in our Grip inventory at Chapman UK.
So we’re justifiably excited to announce the arrival of the very latest Chapman camera dolly to our comprehensive fleet! The Hybrid IV has arrived in the UK and is available to hire from Chapman UK today. We have a video in the works showing you the features of this latest design, so keep an eye on the website.
The Chapman Hybrid Dolly first appeared in the mid 80s combining the best of both the Pee Wee’s small and flexible design with the Hustlers superior lifting capability. The new Hybrid IV takes the existing features many of you will be familiar with and adds many layers of improvements and new features.
So how do you improve on an already great design? Well Chapman Leonard have listened to Grips & Camera Professionals who’ve used their dolly equipment and taken this feedback on board with the new Hybrid IV. In fact there are so many new features we don;t have room for all of them, so here are some highlights: The Hybrid IV now has an increased payload capacity up to 700lbs (tested), so you can use the Hybrid IV with our Stinger jib arms. The three mode steering includes Conventional, Crab and Roundy-Round mode, allowing the Dolly to perform extremely tight turns on a small set or even rotate on the spot! A new wheel design has dramatically reduced friction for really smooth, rolling shots when pushing the dolly on a floor surface and the Hybrid IV wheels incorporate the quick release clips system for quick wheel changes. There is even a brand new Quick Jack for fast repositioning of porna the multi-angle axels or changing wheel types. The hydraulic lifting arm now features two modes of operation, Normal and Float Mode, the later allows smooth, uninterupted movement of the lifting arm when booming up and down. Camera Assistants will also love the Hybrid IV for the thought Chapman Leonard have put into redesigning the ride on and walk around platforms. The new platforms can be configured in over twelve different ways, for high and low mode operating. Ride on features also include a removable boom arm platfrom for a camera operator to stand on and the multi-positional seating that is familier to many of you.
There are so many new features we recommend you take a look at the our new video on the Hybrid IV coming soon, but if you want to take the Hybrid IV for a test drive then come and visit us to see it for yourself.
